Operators Daniel/ZS6JR and Dior/ZS6DJD will be operating from Mozambique for 7-10 days starting on May 3rd or 4th, depending on how quick they install/get their equipment up and running. Dior informs OPDX, [edited] "The idea was to park next to a small lake in Shai Shai, Mozambique, 400 km north of the capital and operate all vertical antennas with the earth wires in the water and see what we could do. So we will operate vertical on most bands 40m to 10m, but Daniel has also decided to take a Hex beam antenna with him. If we get a chance, we will also work 6m and 80m. I do not have a callsign as yet. We will be getting it soon. I will probably get C91JD or C91DJ or C91DN. Conditions allowing, we should be on all the bands." Some suggested frequencies by Dior are:
 20m - 14210, 14200, 14195 or 14190 kHz
 15m - 21280, 21275, 21270, 21.265 or 21250 kHz
 10m - 28450, 28470 or 28500 kHz

XZ, MYANMAR (Update to OPDX.1037)
Back in November, Simon, HS0ZIB/G6JFY, informed OPDX that his QTH in Thailand is only a few hours drive to Myanmar, and he makes regular trips to the country (He states that he is there weekly). It seems his discussions with authorities from the Myanmar Ministry of Post & Telecommunications and the Ministry of Tourism for about a year has paid off and he now has a license. Simon has been allowed to set up a "low-key" station in Kawthaung and is expected to be on the air as XZ1K. However, activity will be limited. Currently, Simon works as a volunteer language (English and Thai) and computer teacher in Myanmar, as well as a professional construction/ manager in both Myanmar and Thailand, so amateur radio operations have to fit in with his busy work schedule. He states, "I will try to schedule my ham radio activities to fit in with band and propagation conditions, and openings/greyline paths. His tentative band plan and mode of operation are as follows:

20m - PSK 14070 kHz UP (He will watch the waterfall up to 3 kHz)
20m - SSB 14160 kHz UP as directed
10m - SSB 28400 kHz UP as directed

SPECIAL NOTES (per Simon):
* For SSB operations, he will usually work split, up to 5 kHz UP (so please do not all call him on the exact same frequency).
* For PSK operations, he will watch his Digipan waterfall up to 3 kHz UP (please do not call on his transmit frequency).
* Please do not call for duplicate QSOs - you are either in the log or you are not in the log!
* If mobile network coverage allows, he will upload QSOs in real-time, otherwise please check his log later.
* Please use your full callsign, do not call using only the suffix.
* Shouting, pleading and invoking Mother of God will not help you to make a QSO.
* This is NOT a limited time DXpedition - Simon is expected to be in Myanmar for many years.
* Please consider making a donation to MyanmarTeachers.org. * If you need to contact him, please do so via his E-mail address on (QRZ.com).

All QSL card requests for QSO contacts and SWL (short wave listener) reports are made by OQRS (Online QSL Request Service). There is no direct mail, Bureau, LoTW or eQSL support. OQRS costs 5 USDs per QSL card, and you can also add (at your absolute discretion) an optional donation for his volunteer work - please visit

You can pay online using Paypal, debit or credit card. (If you do not have a debit/ credit card, please ask a friend to make the payment for you). For more details, updates and an online log search, visit:

ZS8, MARION ISLAND
"The Daily DX" reports that there is a new operator on the island, and he is Rory, ZS6RGV, who is a radio technician for the base on Marion Island. He currently does not have a ZS8 callsign, but Pierre, ZS1HF (ex-ZS8M), is expected to help him obtain one. Also, it may be sometime before we hear Roy because he is very busy at the moment helping with the change over (old team with the new team) on the island. "The Daily DX" reports that Rory has an IC-736 and FL-7000. Pierre, ZS1HF, is planning to be the QSL manager, once Rory is on the air.
