2015 CQMM DX CONTEST RESULTS
Ed, PY4WAS, President of the CWJF Group , reports [edited]: Congratulations to all 978 participants (re- ceived logs) from 112 DXCC entities who took part in this competition sponsored by CWJF Group. Database shows 143,538 QSOs from all Continents. During cross checking log process, we could validate about 96% of QSOs among over 8,024 callsigns listed on all the received logs. A3, TONGA (Update)
An international group of amateurs will descend onto Heilala Holiday Lodge, a beach resort from the Kingdom of Tonga, during the last two weeks of February 2016 (around February 18-24th. Dates to be finalized later.). The callsign will be A35T. This trip encompasses the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 20-21st). Activity will be on 160-10 meters, using CW, SSB and RTTY (antennas, weather, propagation all per- mitting). Suggested frequencies are:

FT4JA JUAN DE NOVA DXPEDITION (Press Release dated January 26th)[edited]
Thank you for your engagement! -- We are extremely happy to receive donations for our project. Everybody is now well aware that the countries of the Top 10 DXCC are not easy to activate, sometimes because of difficult access, sometimes because of the political situation or the extremely high budget required to organize an expedition.

Juan de Nova has long been on the list of these islands activated reg- ularly by scientists, mostly members of the French meteorological agency and occasionally by soldiers. The last major activity was in 2003 from the nearby island of Europa. Almost 13 years of silence to an island in the Indian Ocean, close to other very common entities DXCC list. That's right, this little island is located about 100km from the western coast of Madagascar. So why is it complicated and expensive to go?

Well, first of all, it's a question of authorization. Like other islands JDN is administered by the French Southern and Antarctic Lands prefecture, which is in charge of these territories. Most of them are classified as nature reserves to maintain these places as wild as possible. Moreover, it is no coincidence that these places are often considered reference (level 0) in terms of human impact. Millions of birds can breed and nest in peace, like turtles. It would be nonsensical to allow streaming missions.

After our operation since 2014 Tromelin TAAF accepted our application for authorization, possibly because of mutual trust and positive relationships established during these years of preparation . For our part, we do our best not to be a "weight" to these people and ensure immediately take into account all the remarks and recommendations of the different services involved.

From one place to the other, the constraints are different and we had to rethink a number of aspects of the operation. Air transport used in 2014 was not possible, mainly because of the volume and weight to carry. The assistance received (transport crates) for Tromelin was not possible this year.

Therefore, we had to settle for maritime solution by soliciting a ship allowed to park in the lagoon and to transport our team and our equipment. With the various tourist taxes, this represents about 70% of the total budget. The cost of our energy independence is also important because we have to route multiple generators and proper electrical installation and motor fuel (10-15%). For an operation of this magnitude, these costs are difficult to compress, especially need respect us a precise schedule of load, which we will waive do not.

On the other hand, we tried to best optimize our costs and makes as much as possible to use the material available from each of us or loaned by our generous sponsors. Although the team (10 operators) finance a good part of the expedition - which is quite logical, we launched an appeal to amateur radio associations around the world as well as from DX'ers. It is indisput- able that this mobilization has led to progress in the organization and that without it, our expedition would have remained at the planning stage.

To you, contributors, sponsors or members of associations/clubs/founda- tions that help us, we take you hat off. However, it is important that the mobilization will continue on different continents to continue to support the team's efforts.

We can only be proud and happy to so many brands of sympathy and generos- ity.

T48, CUBA
Members of the Las Tunas Contest Crew (T48K) will be active during the next ARRL International CW Contest (February 20-21st) as a Multi-2 entry, celebrating its 15th anniversary of foundation. T48K was active for the very first time during ARRL contest in February 2001, and won 6th place World and Continental leadership as a Multi-Single entry. This time the crew has included guests, two good friends and well-known DXpeditioners: Kenneth/OZ1IKY and Pekka/OH2TA. The rest of the team will be founding members Doug/CO8DM and Raśl/CO8ZZ. Station setup will include a K3 and IC 756ProIII radios, two elements VDAs on 10, 15 and 20 meters, as well as wire verticals on the low bands. Antennas farm will be located a few feet from sea water were the area is a swamp during the high tides. The team is planning some activity before and after the contest mainly on the lower bands. T8, PALAU
Rick, WB5GSA, will be active as T88SA from Peleliu Island (OC-009) in mid-February. He hopes this activity will start around/after February 15th. According to the "Daily DX" he will be using "dipoles and a vertical, which he hopes to install on the beach. While operating from the beach he'll be QRP and from the hotel full power with his FT-897D." QSL via his home callsign.

T8, PALAU
Mike, JA6EGL, will once again be active as T88SM from the VIP Guest Hotel (Free Radio Room) on Koror Island (OC-009) between April 13-18th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via their home callsigns.

VP8SGI SOUTH GEORGIA ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS
Members of the Intrepid-DX Group are now active as VP8SGI from South Georgia Island as of about 1500z, January 29th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. Reports from Antonio, EA5RM, VP8STI/VP8SGI Chief Pilot, on Sunday stated that the VP8SGI team is running with six stations at the same time. Good reports are coming from EU and NA after their first day of operation. Paul, N6PSE, describes South Georgia Is. as an amazing, very beautiful, windy and cold place. They are surrounded by Penguins and youg Seal pups.

Check their Web site for photos. The team did report that the biggest problem for them is the out of turn calling (specially from EU and NA). So PLEASE, let's help them run the pile-up. The VP8SGI team will depart from South Georgia on February 8th.

VP8STI DXPEDITION WRAP-UP
Members of the Intrepid-DX Group went QRT as VP8STI from Southern Thule Island (AN-009) at 2025z, January 25th. If you have been following OPDX's special bulletins from Antonio, EA5RM, VP8STI/VP8SGI Chief Pilot, the team had very trying times during their last few days (70 MPH winds; blizzard-like conditions; antennas damaged by the high winds; team to abandon its equipment/belongings and return to their transport vessel [R/V Braveheart]; their skipper, Nigel Jolly, declared an emergency on January 25th at 2120z, ordering the VP8STI team to cease all operations and come back to the ship because a large ice floe broke away due to the storm and threatened to block the entrance to the bay where the team had camped, raising the possibility that the ship might not be able to retrieve the operators], but all the operators are safe and are now active from South Georgia Island as VP8SGI (see above).
