COWS OVER THE WORLD (Update). Tom, KC0W, and his all-CW "Cows Over the

October 24th: I will be in the Philippines from 26 October - 25 November

before so it should generate some good interest.
The TG/KC0W DXpedition to Guatemala has been cancelled due to the
possibility of going to 3C0 and 3C.
I'm currently planing DXpeditions to both Equatorial Guinea & Annobon
after 4I7COW goes QRT. Fantastic progress is being made acquiring the
3C and 3C0 licenses. This would not have been possible without the VERY
helpful assistance of the Equatorial Guinea licensing authorities.......

peditions to Equatorial Guinea & Annobon will be posted soon.

[edited] "Due to the electoral process being a mess here in Haiti. I have
some leave planned between Oct. 29th to Nov. 7th, and will be staying here
in Haiti to play radio. Working all HF bands including digital modes.

some reason. QSL Direct via VE3NLS or e-QSL, LoTW, ClubLog, and QRZ.com.
I'm still looking for DXCC SSB and Mixed so that is my goal before I finish
here. We work 7 days a week so only have a few hours to operate in the
evening after 2100z. I am hoping to spend most of my time off Oct 29 to

rain. Been wet, damp since the Hurricane so I pick my openings to operate."

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE :
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

  PIRATE ALERTS.....
SV2ASP/A - "The Daily DX" reports: The SV2ASP/A callsign was pirated.
DL5EBE reports that Apollo underwent major surgery last
month and was hospitalized again all of last week. While
he was laid up a phony was on 20 CW using his callsign.
SV1DPI, Kostas, also confirms this news and in addition
reports Monk Apollo is now back in Mount Athos. October
16-18th was a pirate. (Bernie notes: Most likely the
October 22nd and 23rd operations were also bogus).
    Also pirated callsigns were: 4U1ITU, 5H3PM, HV0A, VU2TS and YI1H.

STANDARD TIME. Remember to change your clocks next weekend! Countries who
observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), which took place on Sunday, March
13th, are now expected to move their "local clocks" backward 1 hour on
Sunday, November 6th, from 2:00 AM local time to 1:00 AM. In 2017, Day-
light Saving Time (DST) will again go into effect on Sunday, March 12th,
at 2:00 AM local time. For the history and details about ST and DST, as
well as an interesting map of the world (showing the countries who observe
DST), see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_time

ADDED NOTE: Hopefully, all amateur radio operators know NOT to change
their GMT/UTC/ZULU clocks. However, since most operators usually set their
computers to local time, some may have to change their settings on "some"
ham radio software (ex. logging, propagation, DXTelnet, etc..) programs.

T31W CENTRAL KIRIBATI (2017 DXpedition To Kanton Island -- CANCELED).
The following press release was sent out on October 24th by Gene, K5GS:
With the recent activation of T31 by a small European team the Per-
severance DX Group (PDXG) and T31W team have canceled their planned 2017
T31W activation. Usually when a DX-pedition is canceled there is little
to no explanation for the decision. We will be more open:
As you may recall, we announced our intention to activate T31, Most
Wanted Number 16, in March, 2016. We began building the team, applied
for a license, secured a boat capable of safely transporting 12 operators
and submitted documentation for visas. Additionally, banking arrangements
were made, a Limited Liability Company was formed, we opened the website
and documents were submitted by the team members. In other words, signi-
ficant time and effort were expended by the team, including an outlay of
money.
Seven months after we announced T31W a 3 man team from Europe activated
T31 and made a total of 30,000 QSOs. Of the total, 5,000 QSOs were with
Europe where T31 is one of the most needed entities. Subsequently, they
announced their intention to return to T31 in 2017 to finish the job.
Based on these events it makes no sense for us to commit personal or
donated funds to continue the project.
When the news of this recent T31 activation became public we considered
switching to one of two back-up DXCC entities. One that we've been in
discussions with the governing agencies for over 2 years, and another
that recently came into view. These alternatives are still under con-
sideration.
  We thank the DX community for their past support of our projects;
donations made to T31W will be refunded over the next 30 days.
