REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE :
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

ARRL SEEKING VINTAGE DXPEDITION LOGS FOR ARCHIVE. The ARRL Letter reports:
ARRL continues to solicit paper logs of prominent DXpeditions that took
place predominantly in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, for inclusion in The
DX Log Archive Endowed by JA1BK . The
DX Log Archive program was created, thanks to an endowment established by
Kan Mizoguchi, JA1BK, to obtain, preserve, and utilize paper logs from
rare and significant DXpeditions. The archive can include pre-1950 paper
logs as well as those from rare operations, and logs kept by longtime
residents of very rare entities. All logbooks received to date have been
inventoried and are housed at ARRL Headquarters. ARRL Field Services
Manager Dave Patton, NN1N, said the archive contains logs "from 3D2
through HZ3 -- nothing after the Hs. That's just the way it has worked
out." Contact the program administrator with information about any logs
that are available or known to be available, and ARRL will make a deter-
mination on their suitability for the archive.

SATELLITE TOUR. By the time you read this, Gabe, NJ7H/VE6NJH, will be
finishing up his TF/NJ7H from Iceland (grids HP83/84) activities. His
last day will be July 10th. He will continue on to the Faroe Islands
and be active as OY/NJ7H between July 10-14th. He will make an effort
to operate from both IP61 and IP62 grids while in the Faroes. Finally,
Gabe will head to Greenland and be active as OX/NJ7H between July 14-18th.
The destination in Greenland is Ilulissat in grid GP49. He does not
anticipate any other grids to be activated in Greenland, although if
there is an opportunity Gabe will, but he doesn't expect any opportunities.
From grid GP49, all of North/Central America and Europe should be in range,
along with portions of South America, Asia, and Africa, much of it even
possible on the SO-50 satellite. He anticipates a nearly perfect horizon
to the west. On the 19th, Gabe travels back to the U.S. with a several hour
connection in Iceland. He will also have two nights on the beginning and
end in New York City, and July 21-25th in Florida (anyone who needs EM90,
hit him up). ADDED NOTE: Gabe reports that this may very well be the last
DX use of the callsign NJ7H. He states, "Don't worry, I am not retired from
roving. I am beginning my training at the FAA as an air traffic controller
on July 26th, and will be very busy with that. I expect facility placement
in late October, and I am requesting Alaska. Although, I cannot yet be
certain, I have been told that I should expect to receive my request."
QSLing for this trip will be via LoTW. He mentions, "I still need to get
some new generic cards printed, but if you need a paper QSL I'll get
cards printed eventually, just don’t expect rush service (I have some
from other trips in the backlog, don’t worry I haven’t forgotten)."
