* PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain "Pirate/SLIM" operations or
more likely a "BUSTED CALLSIGN". As always, you never know - "Work
  First Worry Later".

1B, TURKISH REP. OF NORTH CYPRUS. Simon, XW0LP, reports (November 5th)
on QRZ.com the following excerpt: "Due to the bad Covid-19 situation in
Laos, and the very bad economic situation because of this terrible virus,
I have temporarily relocated my ham station to the territory of TRNC -
Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. My new callsign is 1B/XW0LP. The most
important thing for me is that I love amateur radio and want to use my
hobby to help young students learn about radio communications. I have
ZERO interest in any discussions about the politics and history of my
current residence. Don't call me or any other 1B station a pirate! It's
important to understand that my callsign and ham radio station are 100%
legal!"
EDITOR COMMENTS: If you work 1B/XW0LP for fun, QSL via the address on
QRZ.com. The above statement is only part of what Simon wrote on QRZ.com.
To read the whole statement, go to: https://www.qrz.com/lookup/1B/XW0LP
This is NOT the only station that has been active from TRNC (1B/DF8AN,
1B/DH8WLA, 1B/TA1HZ, 1B/TA7AZC, 1B1AD, 1B1AH). As we stated in OPDX.1522
(July 12th, 2021): The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is a
self proclaimed state (part of Cyprus), which is only recognized by Turkey.
The TRNC does not count for anything for DXCC purposes. Also, the use of
the 1B prefix is illegal and is not sanctioned by the ITU. For more details
about TRNC, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Cyprus

FT5/W CROZET ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS (Tidbits).......

    page available at: https://twitter.com/crozet2022

is a PayPal account available at: crozet2022@orange.fr
ADDED NOTE: It is reported to: PLEASE hold on for your financial
support until the Web site is online.
  * A Web page for the DXpedition is currently in the works. Look for
    more details to be forthcoming.
  * Read also from Thierry, F6CUK, (operator for Crozet 2022/2023) who
goes into more details about the island and his upcoming FT5/W oper-
ation on the "DX-World.net" Web page at:
           https://www.dx-world.net/a-bit-more-on-crozet-2022-23
  * NCDXF PRESS RELEASE (dated November 4th)[edited] -- The Northern
California DX Foundation is pleased to announce it is granting 20,000
USDs to Thierry Mazel, F6CUK, for the 2022 Crozet Island DXpedition
planned for December 2022 thru March 2023. Crozet Island is #3 on the
ClubLog Most Wanted List world-wide and #2 in North America.
DXpeditions to rare entities like Crozet Island that are so remote
are becoming more expensive and more logistically challenging, a
trend that we believe will continue. Hopefully this experienced
DXpedition operator can exploit this rare opportunity to access
Crozet Island, put out an effective signal on all the bands and log
all of the needy over the course of his extended stay.
NCDXF's primary purpose is to help fund well-organized DXpeditions
to desirable DXCC entities like Crozet Island. During the last 49
years, NCDXF has granted nearly $1.2 million to hundreds of DXpeditions
    - helping to put an "all-time-new-one" (ATNO) in the log and make DX
happen for thousands of DXers worldwide. The credit for these large
grants goes to the NCDXF contributors, individuals and clubs who
support the DX community. Without those contributions, DXpeditions
to entities like Bouvet or other desirable locations would not be
    possible.
If you agree with the importance of NCDXF's work, and if you are
not a current contributor, we hope you will become one today by
clicking here (http://www.ncdxf.org). Your contribution will continue
to help make DX happen. You can also support future DXpeditions by
including the NCDXF Cycle 25 Fund in your estate plan.
We wish Thierry a safe and very successful trip to the Island
    next year.
      73, Ned Stearns, AA7A
          NCDXF Vice President
          http://www.ncdxf.org

REBEL DX GROUP 2022 ACTIVITIES. The following was reported on the Rebel
DX Group's FaceBook page (https://www.facebook.com/rebeldxgroup) on
November 2nd [edited]: We are working on some 2022 Expedition schedules.
The T22T Tuvalu and T33T Banaba licenses will be renewed it any day from
now. Expeditions should take place around April 2022. Some amazing CW
guys willing to join the team of 4 or 5 operators? More updates soon.....

STANDARD TIME. Did you remember to change your clocks? Countries who
observe Daylight Saving Time (DST), which took place on Sunday, March
14th, are now expected to move their "local clocks" backward 1 hour on
Sunday, November 7th, from 2:00 AM local time to 1:00 AM. In 2020, Day-
light Saving Time (DST) will again go into effect on Sunday, March 13th,
2022, at 2:00 AM local time. For the history and details about ST and
DST, as well as an interesting map of the world (showing the countries
who observe DST), see:
              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_time
              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time
              http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/2022.html
              https://www.timeanddate.com/time/change/usa?year=2022
ADDED NOTE: Hopefully, all amateur radio operators know NOT to change
their GMT/UTC/ZULU clocks. However, since most operators usually set their
computers to local time, some may have to change their settings on "some"
ham radio software (ex. logging, propagation, DXTelnet, etc..) programs.

TL, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC. Ken, LA7GIA, is now active as TL7M from
Bangui until November 15th. Activity will be on all bands and all modes.
This will be the first activation of 60m via special permit. He states
on QRZ.com that his equipment is a "Elecraft K3 and Juma 1000 + KX3",
which he can "Simultaneous transmit on 2 bands, CW/SSB + FTx. One com-
puter, one brain." Donations received via PayPal (kenneth@opskar.no)
before November 16th, will receive an "Express LoTW and Direct QSL".
Donations are appreciated to cover some of the cost. QSL via M0OXO.
NO Bureau cards. Direct only.

VU, INDIA. Abie, AB1F, is back on the air again as VU2ABE (after 16 years
gap) from Shillong (WW Loc: NL55wn), in the Northeastern state of Meg-
halaya, in the sub-Himalayan range in India. Abie informs OPDX that the
altitude is 4,500 feet. He is expected to be there until December 18th.
Activity will be on 40/20/15/10 meters, depending on propagation. He
mentions that his output power will only be 100 watts. The antenna is a
2-element HB9CV about 25 feet high. QSL via AB1F direct, LoTW, eQSL or
ClubLog. QSL by the Bureau to AB1F.

W8S SWAINS ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS (Press Release, dated November 4th).
[edited] Swains DXpedition postponed -- This week the W8S team had an-
other conference call about the planning for the upcoming DXpedition to
KH8/s Swains Island.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, it will remain impossible to travel
to American Samoa in the coming months. The limited number of flights,
only 5 the first quarter of 2022, from Hawaii to American Samoa with the
additional restriction to do a Covid-19 test 5 days before departure in
Hawaii makes traveling extreme difficult. Also tourists have a lower
priority to buy a ticket. The risk is too great to travel to Swains in
the spring of 2022.
Two members of our team are also part of the 3Y0J Bouvet team scheduled
for November/December 2022. The entire team therefore had to decide to
postpone the W8S Swains DXpedition until March 2023. This is the only
opportunity to be on Swains for 15 days with the same team as our original
plans in 2020.
Our project has certainly not been canceled but postponed to the spring
of 2023. An extra advantage that the propagation is much better on the
higher bands. We will keep you informed of the status via our website,
Twitter and Facebook.

On behalf of the Swains team,

XT2, BURKINA FASO. Harald, DF2WO, will once again be active as XT2AW
from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, between December 3-20th. Activity is
usually holiday style on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes.
He states that he works mostly on the Digital modes (FT8, PSK31, JT65 and
RTTY) and CW. He said SSB will be used but only when conditions allow
propagation. He usually will concentrate on 160/80/60 meters. He will
also be active on the Satellites. Harald states that a big storm de-
stroyed his vertical and Hex beam, so he will be using a multi-band dipole
with Matchbox. See QRZ.com more details. QSL via M0OXO, direct or by
M0OXO's OQRS (www.m0oxo.com/oqrs/). Bureau QSL cards are not required

Baghdad, has been pretty active on the bands. Most of his operations
have been on 20/15/10 meters SSB as early as 0530z and as late as 1600z.
