2022 SP DX CONTEST (April 2-3rd; Canceled)[edited]. PRESS RELEASE, dated
March 16th, 2022; by Zygmunt Szumski, SP5ELA, Chairman of SP DX Contest
Committee: After careful deliberation, the SP DX Contest Committee, to-
gether with the Polish Amateur Radio Union (PZK) and the SP DX Club, has
decided to cancel the 2022 SP DX Contest. Since the start of the war in
Ukraine, Poland has accepted nearly 2 million refugees to date, as a direct
result of Russian aggression toward our neighbor. This is an unprecedented
event in Europe and has resulted in the greatest migration crisis in Europe
since World War II. Polish people are deeply engaged in all forms of
humanitarian assistance. Polish radio hams are giving shelter to Ukrainian
refugees in their homes and offering their help and services in every way
possible. Under these extraordinary circumstances, we felt it was most
appropriate to cancel the SP DX Contest this year.
SP DX Contest rules and past results can be found at:
  https://spdxcontest.pzk.org.pl
We look forward to your participation in the 2023 SP DX Contest on April
1-2nd, 2023. --- 2022 SP DX Contest Committee

3Y0J BOUVET ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS (Update on the Team). Ken Opskar,
LA7GIA, DXpedition's Co-Leader, posted the following on the 3Y0J FaceBook
page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/3093983840726129), March 15th
[edited]: The 3Y0J team is looking for one more operator. Specifically
we're looking for a NA SSB operator. If you always have wanted to go on
a most wanted DXpedition like Bouvet then send us an email. We would
love to have you on the team, and can guarantee an exiting challenge!
It will be all hard work. You will have to sail for 10 days, get seasick,
then carry 6.3 metric ton into a zodiac, do a wet zodiac landing, fight
the elephant seals, climb a rock, haul all equipment up, install the camp
in harsh and cold environment, operate A LOT we have 12 radios one for
each, sleep in a cold place, no beer or steak being served but you eat
MRE, toilet is w/o insulation - but great seaview, be prepared for an
emergency evacuation and sail back for another 8 days. Team agreement
says you can talk your own native language in the pileup and say hello
to your friends in Romania, Germany, Colombia or whatever. There is no
shower for 3 weeks. The fee for this luxury vacation is only 20,000 USDs.
But you will have the biggest pileup ever. And if there is a shortfall
of donations you have to pay more.
Requirements: (1) can take 7 weeks vacation in Jan/Feb 2023
                (2) SSB contester or DXPedition experience
                (3) from NA

CQ NEWS (Press Release; dated March 17th). [edited] CQ to Limit Contest
Participation by Stations in Russia, Belarus and Donbas Region Due to
Russian Invasion of Ukraine -- Contact: Rich Moseson, W2VU, Editor --
STATEMENT OF CQ COMMUNICATIONS, INC., REGARDING CQ CONTESTS AND THE
RUSSIAN INVASION OF UKRAINE (Northport, NY 17 March, 2022) - CQ Communi-
cations, Inc., publishers of CQ Amateur Radio magazine and sponsor of
the CQ World Wide DX and WPX Contests, announced today that in light of
the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and Belarus, it will not accept com-
petitive entries in any of its sponsored contests by amateur radio stations
in Russia, Belarus or the separatist Donbas region of Ukraine (unofficial
D1 prefix). Logs submitted by these stations will be accepted only as
checklogs. In addition, contacts with these stations by other partic-
ipants will have zero point value and will not count as multipliers.
This is in line with a similar action taken by the Radio Society of
Great Britain, following the lead of other international sports feder-
ations around the world.
"We regret the need to take this action," said CQ Publisher Richard
Ross, K2MGA, "and recognize that the vast majority of our fellow amateurs
who are affected by it are innocent bystanders who had no role in their
government's decision to invade another sovereign country. However, in
light of the great suffering being inflicted without cause on the people
of Ukraine by Russia's leaders, we cannot in good conscience stand by
and do nothing."
The CQ policy will take effect with the 2021 CQ WPX SSB Contest on
March 26 and 27. Future events will be considered on a case-by-case
basis, depending on the situation at that time.

TX5N AUSTRAL ISLANDS DXPEDITION NEWS (Update). Gene, K5GS, sent out the
following update on March 16th [edited]: The TX5N project is on schedule,
planned to be on the air April 16 - April 28, 2022.
Several last minute topics were discussed during a March 15th team

at the guest house from where we will operate. Included in the shipment
are Elecraft K3 stations, one Flex PGXL amplifier and two Elecraft KPA-500

and Digital. Band plan at: TX5N.net

UX5UO, on March 16th, stating that he and his wife are OK in Kiev in
spite of the bombing every morning. He also states that almost all UT

XI0, MEXICO (Special Callsign/Prefix). Ramon, XE1KK, will be using the
special callsign XI0X from Mexico City. The reason for the special Call-
sign/Prefix per Ramon, "Is to experiment with an attractive callsign.
This way I can call CQ on unusual times or modes and expect to have
callers. I disagree on the idea that once we work on a specific band/mode
exclude the possibility of another QSO, a no-dupe policy. As you are
aware this is quite common on digital." Ramon is expected to use the
callsign during the rest of the year. Activity will be mostly on the
Digital modes. QSL via LoTW and ClubLog only.

XV, VIETNAM. Thomas, DL7BO, is currently active as XV9K. Length of stay
is not known. Activity has been mainly on FT8/FT4 and 20/10 meters at
various times. QSL via DJ6TF.

CQWW WPX SSB Contest (March 26-27th) as a Multi-Single/Low-Power entry.

                       https://twitter.com/mm0gor
