  August 23rd -- Today was a milestone day. Members of the team packed
  1,375 pounds of equipment and loaded it onto a Uhaul trailer for its
  journey to our shipper near Los Angeles. It will depart by boat for
  Palau in the first week of September.

  August 25th -- Here is a photo of the hillside environment for setting
  up our antenna field. (https://cdn-bio.qrz.com/a/t88wa/88wa_antenna_environment_resized.JPG?p=154fcaa121dcd56fba84c0a84b26f03a)
  A trail behind this picture goes past WWII relics. The operating bungalow
  will be on the far right. If all goes well, we will have one K4KIO hex-
  beam pointed to Europe and another pointed to North America. We will
  have two BigIRs and an 85 ft pole for our 160/80m antenna. We are also
  setting up an Innov 6m Yagi on a 17m pole. We hope to be the first ac-
  tivation on 60m and we hope to be lucky enough to give EU the low bands.

  Remember, activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and FT8. The
suggested frequencies were listed in OPDX.1572 or on QRZ.com. QSL via
M0URX's OQRS or LoTW. See QSL details on QRZ.com.

TF, ICELAND (DXPEDITION ANNOUNCEMENT By K5KG)[edited]. Operators George/
K5KG, Steve/K4EU and Tom/K4NMR will be operating from Iceland (IOTA EU-21),
September 6-20th, 2022. The trip was originally planned for the SAC CW
Contest (Scandinavian Activity Contest), but the SAC was later cancelled.
The team, however, kept their plans and will be there running pileups
using TF/callsigns and working various contests, CWTs, state QSO parties,
etc...
  K5KG initiated the trip by contacting Oskar, TF3DC. Oskar put George
in touch with Benni, TF3T, who is building up the large TF3D station in
the barren "moonscape" some 70 km from Reykjavik. Benni has been enormously
helpful with the logistical arrangements and building and installing mono-
band Yagis for the station. Helping Benni with the efforts is his brother,
Gudmi, TF3SG.
  If all goes as planned, the team will be using three Elecraft K3's plus
amplifiers. This will be George's 6th operation in Scandinavia, with the
others being in the 1980's as K5KG/OH0 and K5KG/OH0/OJ0. Steve, K4EU, is
a veteran of countless DX and contest operations, and Tom, K4NMR, like-
wise has numerous DX operations under his belt from his Navy and Coast
Guard days.

THE TRANSATLANTIC CENTEARY TESTS (Press Release). Nick, G4FAL, RSGB HF
Contest Committee Chair, informs OPDX of the following [edited]:
  The RSGB are hosting an International Amateur Radio Activation, The
Transatlantic Centenary Tests, on the HF bands, for the entire month of
December 2022, to commemorate the centenary of the achievement of Amateur
Transatlantic communication, during the Transatlantic Tests that were
held between 1921 and 1923.
  On December 24th, 1922, was when the very first amateur radio signal
from Europe was heard in North America; this was from the RSGB station
(G)5WS which was established at Wandsworth in South London, as part of
the Third Transatlantic Tests.
  Unlike the tests of the 1920s, which consisted of one-way communication,
the 2022 tests will encourage world-wide two-way communication with UK &
Crown Dependency based stations by having a series of awards available
for making QSOs with those who are activating special callsigns. The
ClubLog team have kindly agreed to provide the supporting infrastructure
for the Tests.
  In anticipation of this centenary celebration, with the assistance of
Ofcom (the UK licensing authority), the RSGB have renewed five callsigns
which they held in the 1920s:
   * G5WS, used for the 1922 tests - "he first to get across"
   * G5AT, used for the 1923 tests
   * G6XX, used for the 1923 tests
   * G6ZZ, used for the first amateur tests on a moving railway train in 1924
   * G3DR, Scottish Highlands Call - GM3DR.
  These historic call signs will be activated by RSGB members and Clubs,
using G5WS, G5AT, G6XX, G6ZZ and G3DR (England), GM5WS (Scotland), GW5WS
(Wales), GU5WS (Guernsey), GD5WS (Isle of Man), GJ5WS (Jersey) and GI5WS
(Northern Ireland).
  Full details of how to participate will be published on the RSGB website
at:                https://rsgb.org/transatlantic-tests
