Peter Cook, 9V1PC, President of SARTS, informs OPDX that

"As of May 1, 2006, with kind permission of the Singapore licensing authority (iDA), the Singapore Amateur Radio Transmitting Society (SARTS) will undertake responsibility for conducting the Radio Amateur's Examination in Singapore. The multiple-choice format examination will be available on a monthly basis. Candidates should continue to register with the iDA for the examination and results, but all other administration and the examination itself will be performed by SARTS. This is another milestone for Singapore Amateur Radio Transmitting Society (SARTS)."
CN2, MOROCCO
Jim, W7EJ, will be active as CN2R during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m) entry. He will be active before the contest (November 21st) on the WARC bands and EME. QSL via W7EJ.

FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON
Juergen, DJ2VO, will be active from Miquelon (NA-032 and DIFO FP-002), May 5-20th. His callsign was not provided. Activity will be CW only on 80-10 meters with 100 watts into a vertical antenna. This activity will also count for the Ile Grande Miquelon Lighthouse (WLOTA LH-1417). QSL via his home callsign.

HH, HAITI (Also, PJ2)
Look for Fabio, PY1ZV, to be active from Hispaniola Island (NA-096) as HH/PY1ZV, May 31st-June 8th. Activity will be during his free time on 80-10 meters (WARC bands included), with a TS570D+ multi- band Comet antenna (80-10m). Fabio is a member of the Brazilian Military Forces and will be at the capital of Port-au-Prince located in the Brazilian Mariner's Group, a unity component of the Brazilian military forces in disposition to the United Nations International Peace and Stabilization Mission in Haiti - MINUSTAH. Fabio plans to go to Curacao (Netherland Antilles; Archip. Bonaire and Curacao - NA-006), June 10-14th, and will probably use the callsign PJ2/PY1ZV. There is a good possibility he will operate as PY1ZV/MM during his voyages between islands:

May 10-17th - From Fortaleza (Ceara-Brazil) to Port-au-Prince (Haiti)
June 8-10th - From Haiti to Curacao

HH, HAITI
Glauber, PS7EB, is also expected to be active from here as HH/PS7EB, June 1st-November 25th. Activity will be during his free hours of his work as a member of the Brazilian Army in the Peace Force of UN - MINUSTAH. Operations will be on 80/40/20/17/15/10 meters on SSB, RTTY and CW-QRS, with an IC-746 PRO and a DXV8 antenna. Also, look for him to possibly be active as PS7EB/MM during his voyage with his military unit to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, beginning April 30th. IOTA NEWS
AS-123. By the time you read this you may have one more day to work TB0DX from the Island of Kosrelik (MIA reference number MTC-108, QRA KM66). Activity is expected to end May 1st. Operators mentioned are: Pavel/TA2ZAF (OK1MU), Karel/OK1DG, Slavek/OK1TN, Ondra/OK1CDJ, Vasek/OK1DAA, Zdenek/OK1FIA and Mirek/OK2VZE. This island is the most wanted Turkish Island and is being activated for the first time. The DXpedition will be working on CW/SSB. Activity will be on 17 meters and 20 meters. AS-123. (CORRECTION) Last week we mentioned that Karl, WA2KBZ, was signing TA0/WA2KBZ from Buyukada Island (AS-123) in the Marmara Sea. This is incorrect. The Buyukada Island (in the Marmara Sea) IS NOT an IOTA. The Buyukada Island (in the Icel/Adana/Hatay Province Group) is an IOTA (AS-123). Sorry!

AS-150. Several DXers from Jiangsu DX Club will activate Tianheng Island as BY4RSA/4 between May 1-5th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters CW and SSB, VHF/UHF and the satellites. Operators mentioned are: Chen/BA4RC, Dale/BA4TB, Wang/BA4RS, BD4RJC, Yao/BG4RQP, Cheng/ BG4WYV, BG4REB, BG4RDK and Michael/BD5RV. QSL via BA4TB.

EU-011. Keith, G3TTC, will be active as G3TTC/p from the Isles of Scilly, April 30th to May 5th. Activity will be on 80/40/20/15 meters SSB. QSL via his home callsign.

EU-043. (Update/Change) Operators Tomas/SM6XMY, Rolf/SM6IQD, Sten/SM6MIS, Daniel/SA6ABU, Janne/SM6YOF and Rick/SM6U will be active as 8S6KOS from Koster (Sydkoster) Islands between June 9-11th. Their main activities will be on 80/40/20 meters SSB. Operators SM6IQD and SM6MIS will operate some CW. They will have two main stations with amplifiers and descent antennas. EU-189. (Update) A new DXpedition to the Isle of Rockall has been announced to take place on June 16th. Operators mentioned are:

Jacek/SP5DRH, Jim/MM0CWJ, Witold/SP5LCC and Terje/LA3OHA. Joining the operators will be Al Baker (mountain climber leader) and John Cunningham (second mountain climber and a professional photographer). The team plans to operate on the following suggested frequencies (the list is not final):

Operators Jim/WB9PZB, Carol/WB9PZA and Jerry/WB9ONU will be active as WB9PZB/4 from Santa Rosa Island (FL-003S for the U.S. Islands Award, Escambia/Okaloosa Counties, Florida), between April 30th and May 4th. Activity will be on 3765 kHz (+/-) or possibly 7265 kHz (+/-) between 1400-1600z and then again on 14265 kHz (+/-) between 1700-1900z. ISWL ACTIVITY
The International Shortwave League (ISWL), continues to celebrate with their 60th (Diamond) Anniversary throughout the month of May. Look for the following stations to be active:

GB6SWL - Active for three days (May 6-7th and 9th) from Ellesmere Port in Cheshire. Geof, M0BAU, will be the main operator. - Active for two weekends (May 13-14th and May 20-21st) from Walton on the Naze, Essex. Herbie, G6XOU, will be the main operator. - Active for three days (May 27-29th) from Kidderminster in Worcestershire. Tony, G4ZIB, will be the main operator.

GB60SWL - Will be active on Saturday, May 27th, from The Air Training Corps HQ in Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland. Andy, MM0CXA, will be the main operator, and several other ISWL members will also be on the air throughout the day.

Also, look for GX4BJC/P and MX1SWL/P (both ISWL Club callsigns) to be active throughout May. Hide, JM1LJS, will activate two different islands in the Ogasawara Island group between April 30th and May 6th. Look for him to sign JD1BLK (or possibly JM1LJS/JD1) from Chichijima Island between April 30th and May 3rd. Activity will be on 80-6 meters, CW/SSB/FM only. Look for him to sign JM1LJS/JD1 from Hahajima Island between May 3-6th. Activity will only be on 20-15 meters, CW/SSB only. Ulli, DL2AH, is expected to be active from a few differents areas in Peru. His holiday style operation will be on 40-10 meters on SSB and possibly RTTY using a FT897 + Windom + Sigma5/Force antennas. Look for him to use the following callsigns during his purposed schedule:

QSL INFO AND NEWS
3Y0X QSLS. Bob, K4UEE, the keynote speaker at the main dinner banquet at the International DX Convention in Visalia, announced that the 3Y0X four-part QSLs will be mailed within the next week or so, so watch your mailboxes for yours during the first half of May. A QSL update from Bob, N2OO, dated April 24th, states, "As of today, no cards have been sent out. We are in the pre-processing stage at this time. All QSLs received to date have been opened and sorted appropriately. QSOs are being confirmed in the log before the label printing begins. CE0Z cards have not arrived from the printer, but 3Y0X and XR9A cards are in hand."

VK0DX QSL ROUTE CHANGE. Finn, VK4LL (OZ2QK), who was active from the Antarctica as VK0DX from the Davis Station, has announced a NEW POSTAL ADDRESS as: Finn Olsen, 31/139 Pring St, Hendra QLD 4011, Australia.

All YM125ATA QSL cards (direct or via the bureau) will be sent after November 10, 2006. Berkin, TA3J, has been operating as YM125ATA since April 23rd through November 10th to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. SP0, POLAND (Special Event)
Look for special event station SP0TPFK to be active between May 1-31st to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Lviv Shortwave Club (LKK), one of the first radio amateur clubs in Europe. TPFK was the callsign of the LKK Club's Headquarters station. Please QSL via SP2FAP: Sylwester Jarkiewicz, Suchacz-Zamek, ul. Wielmozy 5b, 82-340 Tolkmicko, Poland. TM6, FRANCE (Special Event)
Each year the Ham Radio Department of Sarthe (72) activates the special callsign TM6ACO for the "24 Hours of LE MANS" race. For the 55th time, look for TM6ACO to be on the air between June 4-18th. Activity will be on HF, VHF and 50 MHz. A special QSL will be printed

VU4, ANDAMAN ISLANDS(Updates/News)
Bharathi, VU2RBI, announced this past week that two permanent stations are now on the Andaman Islands. Station's callsigns are VU3VPX and VU3VPY. They will be operated by two lectures from the Politechinic College. Bharathi states (edited), "We, NIAR, helped them in getting their licenses. We will have more activity from the Andamans very soon. You will hear more and more activity from VU4-land. Whatever we have done we did it in VU4-land. Hope everybody will be happy. The greatness goes to National Institute of Amateur Radio (NIAR), Hydeabad, who has spent lot of money to organize the hamfest and radio operations in VU4-land. My sincere thanks to all DX hams who had participated in the hamfest and radio operations in VU4-land..... Best regards". Later in the week, Bharathi also requested that the ham community please send your appreciation/suggestion letters (with a written signature) about the Andaman Island activities to her address/NIAR address. She wants to add this to her report to the Government of India. Bharathi is also looking for any suggestions about their hamfest activity and requests for activity from Lakshadweep (VU7).
