4D75, PHILIPPINES (Special Event)
Ram, DV8AIK, is sometimes active as 4D75D to celebrate the Diamond Anniversary (75th) of the Philippine Amateur Radio Association (PARA). This callsign will be used throughout the year 2008. Look for activity on 20/15 meters SSB. Ram is located on Mindanao Island (OC-130). QSL direct is preferred, but for those stations who are comfortable to send by the Bureau it is "OK".

5B, CYPRUS (AS-004)
Operators Frank/DL2SWW and YL Gabi/DF9TM will be active as 5B/homecall, May 1-6th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters, mainly CW and SSB. QSL via their home callsigns, direct or by the bureau.

5X, UGANDA
Mike, PA5M, is now in Uganda and is currently active as 5X1DX until an unknown specific length of time. His activity will be limited due to his work (mostly his evenings and weekends). Mike, who works for the United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP), was heard this past week on 30/20 meters CW between 1600-1700z. QSL via PA7FM.

8P, BARBADOS
Darren, G0TSM, will be active as 8P9TS from May 21st to June 1st. Activity will be limited because he is on holiday, but look for him to be on CW, the HF bands and 6 meters. He will also be in the CQ WW WPX CW Contest (May 24-25th) as a Single-Op entry using the callsign 8P2T. QSL via G0TSM. Bureau requests can be obtained via E-mail at: qsl@g0tsm.com

9N, NEPAL
Kazu, JA8MWU, will be staying in Katmandu between April 27th and May 5th for his vacation. He hopes to operate during his free time using the callsign 9N7WU on SSB. Look for him on 14180, 18120, 21280 and 28480 kHz. QSL via his home callsign.

A6, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
After almost five years in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Philippe, 9Q1TB (F5LTB), will be leaving the region in the coming months and will be stationed in U.A.E. Philippe is a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) worker. He hopes to obtain from authorities a callsign in a reasonable time, and as a first step, be authorized to use A6/F5LTB. SM7DJZ will remain his QSL Manager.

ATTENTION DXPEDITIONS
OPDX has received a special request to remind operators of DXpeditions to listen or take time out to work the thousands of "U.S. General Class Hams" above 14225 kHz." This limitation is not known to all DXers throughout the world, and the many Generals are also looking and waiting to work DXpeditions as well.

CN, MOROCCO
Jim, W7EJ, will be active as CN2R during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (160m) entry. QSL via W7EJ. See the station from CN2R at:

EY8, TAJIKISTAN
Jean, F4EOH, will be active as EY8/F4EOH from Dushambe between now and the end of August. Activity will be mainly 20 meters SSB. QSL via his instructions or direct to: Jean Bernard, 701 Rue des Bartavelles, 6 Lot des Cigognes, 84100 Orange, FRANCE.

H44, SOLOMON ISLANDS
Moffet, H44MD, continues to be active on 20 meters SSB usually around 14190-14200 kHz between 0700-1230z. He is only using 100 watts and a dipole but is being worked by NA and OC stations. PLEASE NOTE: His address listed on QRZ.com is incorrect. The correct address is: P.O. Box 490, Honiara, SOLOMON ISLANDS.

HC8, GALAPAGOS ISLANDS (SA-004)
Members of the Ukrainian DXpeditioners Team (UDXT) will be active from here between April 24-29th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters, CW, SSB, PSK and RTTY, with two stations and an emphasis on the low bands and 30/17/12 meters. Operators mentioned are: Sergey/UX0HX (HC8/UX0HX), Max/UZ1HZ (HC8/UZ1HZ), Len/UR3HR (HC8/ UR3HR) and Alex/UT5UY (HC8/UT5UY). QSL via their home callsigns, direct or through the Ukrainian Bureau.

FK, NEW CALEDONIA
Jean-Louis, F5NHJ, will be active as FK/F5NHJ from the main island of Grande Terre (OC-032, DIFO FK-001, WLOTA LH1280) between August 12-29th. Activity will be mainly on CW and the Digital modes on 30 meters. During his stay, Jean Louis will try to activate one or several other FK islands. More details should be forthcoming. HP, PANAMA

INTERNATIONAL MARCONI DAY (UK Op)
Chris/M0DOL and members of the Northampton Radio Club will activate GX8LED from Daventry Borough Hill, a Marconi site, from 0000z, Saturday, July 26th until till 2400z for the International Marconi Day (IMD). This is the first time this location has been activated for IMD. For more details see:

IOTA NEWS
AS-117. Look for JA4ZKI/4 and JE6QIG/4 to be active from No Island (JIIA AS-117-106), JA4 Yamaguchi Pref, from May 10-11th. QSL via their home callsign. You can go direct or by the bureau.

EU-008. (Update) Members of the Sands Contest Group (M0SCG) and Workington ARS will be active as MS0SCG from the Isle of Jura, one of the Inner Hebrides Islands off the west coast of Scotland between September 22-29th. With a minimum of 10 operators, the team plans run 3-4 stations (1 on 20m and/or 15m SSB, 1 on 17m Digi/CW, 1-2 on 80/40/160m and 1 on 6m. The group is hoping to make 10K QSOs.

EU-012. Gordon, G3USR, will be active as GM3USR/p from the Isle of Yell (IOSA SH-03, SCOTIA SI-20), Shetland and Fair Isles, June 4-8th. Activity will be on 40-6 meters SSB only with 100 watts. QSL via G3USR, direct preferred but by the bureau is "OK".

EU-037. Operators Fred/SM7DAY and Jan/SM7NGH will be active as SM7DAY/p from Oland Island (WLOTA LH-0588), May 5-12th. Activity will be on most HF bands, CW and SSB. QSL via their home callsigns, direct or by the bureau. Their Web site:

EU-127. Operators Hans-Jorg/DO3HJW, Andreas/DD8ZJ, Michael/DG5LAC, Petra/DB1LPS, Georg/DK7LX and Olaf/DL4HG will be active as DA0T/p from Neuwerk Island (N-12 for the German Islands Award, WLOTA LH-2311) between July 25th and 27th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters, including 30/17/12m, using CW and SSB with 100 watts and two stations, verticals and dipoles. Operations will include the RSGB IOTA Contest. NA-086. Operators Lazaro/CO2WL, Gamboa/CO3VK, Jorge/CO3LF, Sandor/CO7SF, Josue/CO7RR and Gerardo/CO7GG will be active as T47C from Cayo Romano, April 24-27th. Suggested frequenices are: CW - 1830, 3505, 7010, 10110, 14020, 18070, 21010, 24895 and 28020 kHz

NA-088. Tom, W4JKC, will be active as HP4/W4JKC from Colon Island (Bocas Del Toro Province), Panama, May 5-10th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters, CW and SSB. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the bureau.

LIGHTHOUSE ACTIVITIES
Members of the Group Mistongo DX Tandil (GMDXT) Radio Club (LU2EE) will activate the lighthouse of Punta Piedras (ARG-058) between May 1-4th. Activity will be on 80/40 meters SSB. Operators mentioned are: Santos/LW7DAF, Jose/LU4EHP and Anibal/LU3ES. Grid Loc. GF14. This lighthouse was inaugurated in 1917; it is 31 meters in height. QSL via Radio Tandil Club, C. C. 184, 7000 Tandil, BA, Argentina.

Special event station W3S will be operating from the grounds of the Piney Point Lighthouse (ARLHS USA-601), St. Mary's County, MD, during their annual Waterfront Festival Saturday, May 10th, from 1300-2000z. Activity will be on 80/40/20/17 meters. They hope to have 3 active stations on SSB, CW and BPSK-31. A photo QSL is available, and a certificate upon request. QSL with S.A.S.E. via KA3UNQ. M7, ENGLAND
Operators Mindaugas/LY4L and Jay/LY4Y will be active as M7A during the CQ WW WPX CW Contest (May 24-25th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via M0NRC.

Buck, DL5KAT, informs OPDX that he has uploaded all QSOs for his 1983 A22BT DXpedition into the LoTW.

SOON TO BE ON LOTW. Tony, W4FOA, announced this past week that the following will soon be on the LoTW: EL2AD (1962-1965), 7Q7AA (1969-1972) and PY1ZBA (1973-1975). He states that this will be made possible thanks to the kindness, diligence and the many, many hours that Mr. Art Burk, N4PJ, has put into taking Tony's handwritten logbooks and converting them to a format which will soon be entered on LOTW.

NOT THE QSL MANAGER. Gert, K5WW, is NOT the QSL Manager for HQ8R. He is the QSL Manager for HQ9R only. ROSKILDE 1658 AWARD ACTIVITIES
Look for six special event callsigns to be active from various provinces (See OPDX.841) from former Danish parts of Sweden and in Denmark. Activity is to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Roskilde on February 26, 1658.

SC1658OZ - Will be active between April 20th and May 5th. Activity will be on 80-17 meters, most likely on PSK31, RTTY and Olivia. QSL via SK7BQ.

SK1658DK - Will be active on every first Saturday and Sunday of the month, different bands and modes. QSL via SK7CE.

SB1658OZ - Will be activated almost daily on 20, 15 and 10m, mostly on 20m due to condx, around 0700-1300z. PSK31 and CW only. Look for PSK31 around 14071 kHz. The signal is activated by three operators as time permits on SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK31.

Other callsigns: SK1658OZ, SH1658OZ, SH1658DK are active from time to time. All callsigns with 1658 in the callsign from Sweden and Denmark are valid for the award.

OZ1658ROS - Is QRT until further notice due to high winds that damaged their antennas. They will repair them as soon as WX and time permits.

SILENT KEY
Phil, G3SWH, informs OPDX that Peter, 8R1WD, became "SK" last week at the age of 83. His health was deteriorating over the last few months, but he was still active from time to time. OPDX and its readers would like to send out our sympathy to Peter's family and friends.

SPECIAL EVENT (International Museum Ship Radio Event)
The 2008 Museum Ships Event will be sponsored by "The Battleship New Jersey Amateur Radio Station" (BNJARS) and will take place during the period of 0001z, June 7th to 2359z, June 8th. Ships wishing to participate should send a note to museum@nj2bb.org with the name of ship, callsign, location, QSL info and contact info for person responsible. During this event every year there are participation of naval ships, lightships, steamships, research vessel and merchant ships. Interesting international ships as the British cruiser HMS "BELFAST" (GB 2 RN) will take part.

A certificate is available for all stations that work at least 15 different ships listed as officially participating by sending a copy of their log entries showing these contacts. Working the same ship on different frequencies DOES NOT count as 2 ships. To receive a certificate, please send either 3 USDs to cover costs or send a large enough envelope with enough postage (Certificates should not be folded) to: Margaret Burgess, KB2BRR, 150 Schooner Ave., Barnegat, NJ 08005, USA. SV5, DODECANESE (EU-001)
Ben, OZ6B (5P1DX), will be active as SV5/OZ6B from Ialyssos between May 31st and June 7th. Activity will be only 20 meters SSB. QSL via his home callsign.

T32, EAST KIRIBATI
Haru, JA1XGI/W8XGI, will be active as T32XG from May 27th to June 3rd. Activity will be on 40/30/20/17/15 meters, mainly on CW, but some SSB and Digital mode. QSL via JA1XGI, direct or by the Bureau. ADDED NOTE: Haru told OPDX that he is making plans for T30 and T31 to possibly take place during his next trip in November. He has already received the licenses for both islands when he received his T32 license.

TF, ICELAND
Siggi, TF3CW, will be active in the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 24-25th) as Single-Op/Single-Band (20m) entry. QSL via LX1NO.

TM8, FRANCE (Special Event - CDXC Convention)
Look for special event station TM8CDX to be activated this year from September 6-20th. Operations will be on the HF bands and 2 meters, all modes, CW, SSB and the Digital modes. QSL Manager is Rafik, F5CQ. QSL either direct or by the bureau. Activity is to celebrate the 2008 Clipperton DX Club (30th) Convention being held this year at Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, near the European Picture Center on September 19-20th. Current speakers announced include operators from 2008 DXpeditions of J5C, VP8DX, TX5C, 9X0R and possibly many more. If possible, the TM8CDX station will be installed at the site of the convention during Saturday. More information is available at:

TO4G, GLORIOSO ISLAND (Postponed Again)
Didier, F5OGL, Gloriosos 2008 team leader, announced (edited): "The operation for Glorioso 2008 must be delayed for some weeks. The HQ of the south zone of the Indian ocean informed us that this is due to the fact that important works of facilities will take place on the island. During two and a half months, at the beginning of June, anti-cyclonic shelters will be built to protect the military personnal, long with some equipment for the weather station.

Due to the number of persons who will be on the island during the same period, we decided with the HQ of force of the south zone of the Indian Ocean to do this DXpedition when these works will be ended. The exact dates will be defined according to the operational occupation of the military transport in this region but we hope to accomplish this operation at the end of September or the beginning of October. This leaves us the time to improve our preparations and, we thank you all those who contributed to the realization of this plan and firstly the military authorities of the Reunion Island, and our financial and equipment sponsors." TS78, TUNISIA (Special Event)
You still have a few days to work special event station TS78WARD. The last day is April 24th. Activity is to celebrate "International Amateur Radio Day" (April 18th) from the amateur radio club station 3V8ST of Tunisian Scouts. QSL via the 3V bureau.

V8, BRUNEI (Update/OC-088)
Operators John/9M6XRO and Gerben/PG5M are now active from the lodge of Ambran, V85SS, as V8FRO and V8FGM, respectively. By the time you read this, Gerben/PG5M should be packing it up. VK9X, CHRISTMAS ISLAND
Operators James/9V1YC and Wilbert/PE7T are now active (since April 18th) as N1YC/VK9X and PE7T/VK9X, respectively. Their length of stay is unknown. Activity has been mainly CW on 40/30/20/15 meters. QSL N1YC/VK9X via 9V1YC and PE7T/VK9X via his home callsign.

VK9X, CHRISTMAS ISLAND (Update to OPDX.854)
Four operators will be active from Christmas Island (OC-002) between July 8-20th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters and possibly 6 meters. They plan to have three stations active (one with high power, 2 barefoot). Operators, with modes of operation and their callsigns are as follows:

YI, IRAQ
Kitch, WD6V, is now active as YI9WV possibly until late November (2008) unless he receives an extension. He is currently operating near Fallujah, using a dipole antenna and a low power radio (FT-817) but is expected to receive another rig soon and will be able to run 100 watts. Activity is limited to his free time, mainly on CW and PSK31, but may operate SSB at times and possibly RTTY. All contacts thus far have been with Europe and Russia stations. QSNs show Kitch was heard on 20 meters CW after 1345z. QSL YI9WV via NI5DX, by the Bureau or direct (w/SASE & 1 USD/1 IRC).

ZL7, CHATHAM ISLAND
David, ZK2CZ, is planning to be active as ZL7M from May 10-11th. Activity will be SSB only. QSL via VK2CZ direct.

ZM2, NEW ZEALAND
Operators Lee/ZL2AL, Stan/ZL2ST, Mike/ZL2FAR and Peter/ZL2LF will be active as ZM2M during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 24-25th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via ZL2AL.
