3B7, ST. BRANDON ISLAND (AF-015)
Rachid, 3B8FQ, reports that his trip to activate St. Brandon Island has been delayed due to the unavailability of boat transportation. It had been planned for late October. The next boat scheduled to leave for St. Brandon is November 15th. Rachid and the meteorological station maintenance team are hoping to be aboard. If everything works out as planned, Rachid will be active as 3B7FQ much longer than during his short stay on Agalega Island as 3B6FQ this past April. As was the case this past spring, Rachid will be on a work assignment and will be active on CW and SSB as time is available. More info as it becomes available.

4X, ISRAEL
Franz, DL3PS, who is on a business trip, plans to be active as 4X/DL3PS. He will be in Israel between November 10th and December 5th. Activity will be limited to his spare time, but look for him on 80-10 meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. QSL direct or by the bureau to HB9EHQ.

5T, MAURITANIA
A group of JA operators, who are part of an aid program, are once again active as 5T5JA from Nouakchott until mid-November. Activity so far has been on 20 meters SSB, but they plan to be on 40-10 meters using CW and SSB. QSL via JA1BAB.

6TH IDXC ANNOUNCEMENT
The 6th International DX Convention organized by the Strange Radio Team (SRT) which will be held April 18-19th, 2009. The City will be Paestum near Salerno (fantastic Archeological Area) and the airport is Napoli Capodichino. More details will be forthcoming in January 2009. See last year's event at:

6V, SENEGAL
Carsten, DL1EFD, will be active as 6V7N between November 23rd and December 5th. Activity will be mainly CW on all bands. He will also be in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All- Band/Low-Power entry. QSL via his home callsign.

8Q, MALDIVES
Nobby, G0VJG, will be active as 8Q7CQ between June 1-15th (2009). This will be a limited operation because Nobby will be on his honeymoon (and he thanks his wife for putting up with him and the QRM). Activity will be from Kuredu Island (AS-013) mainly HF SSB but some 6 meters. QSL via Owen, G4DFI.

A5100, BHUTAN (Update)
Members of the Clipperton DX Club (Gerard/F2VX, Alain/F5LMJ, Jean-Louis/F9DK and Vincent/G0LMX) are now active from Thimphu using the special callsign A5100A until November 17th. Activity is to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Operations will be on 80-10 meters (with three stations) using CW, SSB and the Digital modes (RTTY and PSK31). There is a possibility of 160 meters. By the time you read this, the team should have two stations on the air. Over the past weekend the team was on 80/40/30/20 meters. Modes have been CW, SSB and some RTTY. The team is expected to met with Pradan, A51PN, in the southern part of Bhutan after this operation, and they plan to be active from three different regions within Bhutan signing /p. QSL via F9DK. C6, BAHAMAS
Operators Tom/N6BT and Fred/KE7X will be active as C6ARR and C6AKX, respectively, between November 23rd and December 1st. Activity will be on 160-20 meters. Both operators will also be in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th). Tom will be a Single-Op/Single-Band (160m)/ Low-Power entry. Fred will be a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/Low-Power entry. C9, MOZAMBIQUE
Igor, UY5LW, will be acive as C91LW from Maputo between November 13th and December 2nd. Activity will be on 160-10 meters with 800 watts using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. All radio amateurs in Canada are welcome to use the following special event prefixes CG, CF, CH and CI between January 1st through February 28th (2009). Activity is to commemorates Galileo's first use of an optical telescope and the subsequent discoveries he made in his lifetime. Look for radio amateurs in Canada to use the following prefixes:

CK9, CANADA (Special Event)

Nicolas, F4EGX, is now active as FT5YI from the French scientific station "Dumont D' Urville" during his free time between November to mid-December. He was heard on 20 meters SSB (watch between 14200-14210 kHz) around 0830z. He is using a FT857 w/100 watts, ATU and a Delta loop 20m antenna.QSL via F4EGX. GB2, ENGLAND (Special Event)
Terry, GM3WUX, will be active as GB2HLB between December 26th and January 22nd (2009). Activity is to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Louis Braille. Members of the Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society (RAFARS) will activate special event station GB70RAF between November 14th and December 11th. Activity is to celebrate 70th anniversary of the RAFARS. Operations will be from Shaftesbury Dorset (WAB ST82) and will be on 80-10 meters using CW and SSB, plus 2m FM. QSL via the RSGB Bureau.

HP, PANAMA

INDIA 2009 HAMFEST
Varadhan, VU3ITI, reports that the members of the Bangalore Amateur Radio Club (BARC) would like to invite amateur radio operators to visit Bangalore City, India, for their 2009 November hamfest. The BARC is also celebrating its 50th anniversary that year. Bangalore City is in southern India and has an International Airport. The Hamfest will have technical lecturers, exhibition of home brew projects, and also sales of equipment and components. More details are forthcoming.

EU-009. (Update/Correction) Russell, G5XW, will be active as GM5XW from the Orkney Islands between November 19-23rd. . (5K0T Update). Pedro, HK3JJH, informs OPDX that their plans for the DXpeditions to Bajo Nuevo (NA-132) and Roncador Bank (NA-133) are all set and ready. However, their friend Fero, HA8MT, will not be operating, but he is their tecnical manager for the equipment and antenas. Activity will take place between November 19th and December 2nd. J6, ST. LUCIA (NA-108)

OA, PERU (Also a rare IOTA)
Operators Rene/DL2JRM and Daniel/DL5YWM will be staying in Lima from between November 13-28th. In their spare time they will operate as OA4/homecall mainly on CW with a focus on the lower bands. Daniel informs OPDX that they will team up with Jorge, OA4BHY, and try to activate a very rare and difficult IOTA in the La Libertad Department Group (SA-075) called Guanape Islands. The team will sign as OA4BHY/2 from Guanape Islands between November 15-17th, depending on the weather conditions. They plan to have two stations on the air. Watch the IOTA frequencies. Members of the UBA Radio Durnal club (CRD) will be active as ON55INR until December 31st. Activity is to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the first ever Belgian TV broadcast in 1953. ON58, BELGIUM (Special Event)
Members of the Opwijkse Radio Club will be active using the special callsign ON58EXPO between now and December 31st. Activity is to celebrate the 50th anniversary and remind everyone about the EXPO that took place in 1958. Operations will be from the Atomium in Brussels. OP0, ANTARCTICA
Joel, ON5XX, will be active as OP0OL from Patriot Hills Base on Ellsworth Land (IOTA AN-016, WABA MN-01 and WAP MNB-02) between November 10th and December 18th. Activity will depend on workload and available power. PLEASE NOTE: The operator is not an experienced CW contester or DXpeditioner, so pile-ups might not be handled as smoothly as you expect. OP4, BELGIUM

PACIFIC TOUR CONTINUES
Toshi, JA8BMK, is now QRT from Banaba Island (as T33ZZ) and is now back on Tarawa, Western Kiribati, operating as T30XX. As this was being typed, Toshi has been very activate on 40 meters CW. He will be on T30 until November 11th before he heads to Canton Island, Central Kiribati. He is expected to be active as T31DX from Canton starting around November 16th. He will be there for 7-10 days, depending on the boat transportation. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW and SSB. QSL direct to JA8BMK.

POSSIBLE NEW ONES COMING (SOON)
It was reported on the SEDXC Mailing Reflector by Mike, K4PI: "Netherlands Antilles to net new DXCC Entities for 2008 -- Over the past year much discussion has been made about the possibility of new DXCC entities happening once the break-up/disbanding of the Netherlands Antilles takes effect on December 15th, 2008.

This past week, the President of European DX Foundation (EUDXF), Hans, PB2T, who visited ARRL HQ in July and had a discussion about the DXCC status of Netherlands Antilles, feels that after December 15th, 2008, it looks like four new entities will be added to the DXCC list in the future (Curacao, Sint Maarten, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Bonaire)."

QSL EJ7NET STATUS. Declan, EI6FR, informs OPDX of the following update about the QSLs for the EJ7NET operation to Inis Mor, Aran Islands (EU-006) in June of 2004: "Due to a mix up, it seems the QSLs for this operation were never posted to the outgoing bureau in EI. Declan, EI6FR, now has the labels and blank cards for this operation and has started to get them to the bureau. A card will be sent to all stations appearing in the log of this operation. Apologies to those who have been left waiting."

S7, SEYCHELLES
Norbert, DL2RNS, is now active as S79NS until November 20th. Activity will be limited because he is on holiday. He has been spotted mainly on 30 meters CW but has also been on 17 meters. Reports indicate that he may be active from Mahe (AF-024) or Desroches (AF-033). QSL via his home callsign.

SILENT KEY
Steve, 9A4SS, reports to OPDX that Zoran Krnjeta, 9A2CY, became a became a "SK, Silent Key" on Sunday, November 9th, at the age of 56 years. Zoran had been hospitalized for several days following a brain hemorrage. He was a very active DX HAM in Croatia, as well as a well-known DXer who was on the DXCC Honor Roll and member of a 9A1BOP (RC "Osijek") club since 1969. He was also very interested in RTTY and PSK31, and has operated in quite a few RTTY contests over the past years. OPDX and its readers would like to send out our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of 9A2CY.

SPECIAL EVENT
Members of the Strategic Air Command Memorial Amateur Radio Club (SACMARC) will salute America's veterans on "Veterans' Day", November 11th, from 1500-2200z, by activating the callsign held by Air Force General Curtis E. LeMay, K0GRL (SK), while he was Commander-in-Chief of SAC. The station will be located at the recently opened Eastern Nebraska Veterans' Home in Bellevue, NE. Operation will be on SSB, primarily on 14275 kHz and possibly 7275 kHz plus or minus QRM. Members (residents) of the Home will be invited to be guest operators. A special QSL card featuring a photograph of the new Veterans' Home will be available for a SASE (US) or a SAE and one green stamp or IRC (DX). VK9L, LORD HOWE ISLAND (Update)
Members of Oceania Amateur Radio DX Group Inc. (ODXG) will spend 10 days on Lord Howe Island for the 2009 CQ WPX Contest. The operation will take place between March 24th and April 3rd (2009). They have applied for the VK9LA callsign. Lord Howe Island is currently listed on the 2007 wanted countries list at 80, but the team expects that when the 2008 wanted list is released it will be somewhere around 65 or so. Operators mentioned are: San/K5YY, Stan/SQ8X, Peter/ SQ8DIE, Victoria/SV2KBS, Chris/VK3QB, John/VK4IO, Catherine/VK4VCH, Chris/VK5CP, John/VK5PO, Sara/VU3RSB, Bill/VK4FW and one more YL (to be announced). They intend to have 6 stations on air utilizing a massive antennae system which includes a 3 element monoband yagis, quarter wave verticals, top loaded verticals as well as wires slung from the huge pine trees in a 2 acre area. Operators George, K2DM, will be active as VP2MDG during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via K2DM.

XU, CAMBODIA (Update)
Operators Kunio/JA1CJA, Masumi/JA3AVO, Hiroko/ JH3PBL, Tatsuo/JA3ARJ and Nakasako/JA3UJR will be active as XU7CJA, XU7AVO, XU7PBL, XU7ARJ and XU7UJR, respectively, from Sihanoukville between now and November 6-10th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and Digital modes. Also look for satellite activity on 2m and 70cm. QSL via their home callsigns.

YB0, INDONESIA
Dudy, YB0DPO, will be active during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. QSL is TBA.

YM, TURKEY
Operators Nick/LZ1NK, Con/DF4SA, Zoli/HA1AG, Ilian/LZ1CNN, Valy/LZ1WX, Krasimir/LZ2UW, Savi/LZ1UK and Mustafa/TA2TX will be active from Asian Turkey (Zone 20) as YM3A during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via LZ1NK.

YV, VENEZUELA
Paolo, YV1DIG, will be active as YW4D during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via EA7JX, or LoTW.

Z2, ZIMBABWE
Herbert, DE1ZHB/7Z1HB, will be active as Z21LS from Harare between November 30th and December 9th. Herbert informed OPDX that he prefers 20 meters SSB, but basically he will be all bands. He also mentioned that if he a can fix his computer there will be PSK and RTTY. There is another issue Herbert mentioned which is his antenna. Right now it is only a windom all bands antenna, but at the Riyadh Airport there is a StepperIR antenna waiting for clearance. If it can make clearance in time, he will install it permanently in Zimbabwe (However, he states time is runnig out).
