4O, MONTENEGRO
Acim, YU1YV, will once again be active from Montenegro, possibly as 4O3A (guest operator from this station) or 4O/YU1YV, starting July 1st. He likes 75/80m, but will be active mostly on 6, 10, 15 and 20 meters. He will also be in the IARU HF Contest (July 10-11th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry.

5V, TOGO
Franco, I1FQH, will be active as 5V7DX from Kpalime Village in central Togo between July 15­30th. Activity will will be on 20-10 meters using a Spiderbeam and on 40-30 meters using a homebrew vertical. His rig will be an ICOM 7000 w/KL500 solid state amplifier. QSL via LoTW or via his home callsign, direct (w/SASE) or by the Bureau. Franco plans to put pictures and video upon his return home on You-Tube channel.

DL1, GERMANY
Sebastian, DL1AXX, will activate rare islands for the German Island Award between August 3-9th. Using the callsign DL1AXX/p, his planned activations are:
     Grot Deil Island, Reference O-34
     Kastenwerden Island, Reference O-37
     Weidenschwanz Island, Reference O-38
Sebastian states, "I will be QRV in the late afternoon and evening on CW on 20m and 40m. QSL via his home callsign.

GJ/MJ, JERSEY
A team of six operators will head to the island between June 29th and July 6th. Team members mentioned are: Gordon/G3USR, Tom/ GM4FDM, Alex/PA1AW, Rien/PA1BDO, Ron/PA3EWP and Jo/PA9JO. Their main focus will be on six meters, but in total 3 HF stations and dedicated 6 and 2 meters stations will be active. There will be no 4 meter operation.

Operation will be from the Jersey Amateur Radio Society at the old German signal station at La Moye. Grid: Grid Locator : IN89ve - IOTA EU-01. Callsigns used are: GJ4FDM, GJ3USR and MJ/PA1BDO, MJ/PA3EWP, MJ/PA9JO and MJ/PA1AW. The team will enter in the 6 meter and VHF contests during the weekend of July 3-4th.

Six: GJ4FDM will be the main callsign used on 6 meter. The team will focus their activity on 50.125 SSB and 50.105 CW +/- QRM. When the band is "closed" a beacon will be on 50.105 beaming west. Please alert the team via team@jersey-2010.info (constantly monitored) The team will be on the ON4KST chat and also take skeds for digital modes. EME is still optional depending on actual antenna situation. During the July 3-4th contest another callsign will be used on 6 meters.

2 meter: MJ/PA3EWP will be the main callsign used on 2 meters. The team will focus their activity on 144.325 SSB +/- QRM. The team will be on the ON4KST chat and also take skeds for MS.

HF: The team holds broad interests in various modes and bands so activity will be widely spread depending on propagation. Please do not hesitate to contact the team by team@jersey-2010.info or a guestbook entry to advise them about your demand or propagation. Individual callsigns will be used on HF.

IOTA NEWS
AF-091/ An Italian team of operators will activate Plane Island (AF-091)
AF-092. and Kuriat Island (AF-092) as TS7TI between September 13­23rd.
Operators mentioned are: Alfredo/IK7JWX, Leopoldo/I8LWL, Simon/ IZ7ATN, IK7XWU and Ampelio/IS0AGY. They are currently seeking sponsors/supporters for this DXpedition. More details are forthcoming.

AS-043. Ichy, JH1IPR/6, has postponed his trip to Hachijo Island on June 26th, due to a death in the family. He will travel to Hachijo Island around the end of August or the beginning of September.

EU-045. Members of the newly formed "Italia Zero DX Group" will activate "L'isola di Ponza" in the Tyrrhenian Sea, between Rome and Naples, as IB0Y between August 1-8th. The international team of operators mentioned are: Giovanni/IZ0PSA, Edmondo/VA3ITA, Laura/VA3LIA and James/KB0MZ. Activity will be holiday style on 80-2 meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. QSL via IZ0PSA or LoTW. A link for live video streaming and updates is expected to be posted on (QRZ.com).

EU-123. On the week commencing September 25th, members of Sands Contest Group and Workington Radio Club, along with Brendan Minish (EI6IZ), will be visiting the Isle of Aran off the coast of southwestern Scotland, and will operate under the callsign MM0SCG. They will be active on VHF, HF, SSB, CW and the Data modes. The island has lighthouses and the following reference numbers are good: SCOTIA Island number CS14 and IOSA number CL01. They will also activate SOTA summits, with time permitting.

EU-140. Operators Jari/OH1JO and Juha/OH1LEG will be activated Kaunissaari Island using the special callsign OH1K for 5 days (possibly 7) starting July 27th. Activity will be on the HF bands (20/15/10m) and possibly 80/40/30/17/12m. Jari states, "Icom Pro-3 and FT-1000 MK V Field will be used." QSL via OH1JO. A special QSL card will be printed after the activation. All Direct cards with 1 IRC, 1 EURO and 2 USDs will be answered as soon as the cards are printed by UX5UO. Look for updates on (QRZ.com) (under OK1K or OH1JO).

NA-058. Members of the Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club (W4BTI) will activate the special event station/IOTA/Lighthouse (USA 738 and USA 1014) as K4L from Sapelo Island, Georgia, between August 5-7th. Activity will be on the HF bands. QSL via W4BTI, direct or LoTW and eQSl.

NA-067. Jon, WB8YJF, will be active as homecall/4 from Ocracoke Island, NC (USI NC001S), between July 18-25th. Activity will be on 40/20/ 15/10 meters (and possibly 80 meters) using CW, RTTY, and SSB. Jon will also be active in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 24-25th) as a Single-Op/Low-Power. He states, "I will be taking a TA-33- Mini and a Vertical - although at this point the vertical has issues on 80m - which I hope to have rectified by then." SA-060. (Update) Operators Orlando/PT2OP and Fred/PY2XB will be active from Cotejuba Island (DIB PA-14, WLOTA L-2855, ARLHS BRA-278), Para State, Northern Brazil, between July 2­5th. Look for activity in the WLOTA Contest. Orlando, PT2OP, will sign ZX8C, mostly on SSB. Fred, PY2XB, will signs ZX8W, mostly on CW. QSLs for are via PT7WA. QSLs for ZX8C are via PT2OP.

J2, DJIBOUTI (Update)
Freddy, F5IRO, will be active as J28RO on July 6th, and is expected to stay for 2 years. Activity will be on the HF bands using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. Operations will be mainly on the weekends (Friday and Saturday) and during the afternoons and evenings (starting around 1200/1300z). His QSL Manager is F8DFP. QSL direct (w/SAE + valid IRC ­ PLEASE NO MONEY AT ALL), or by the French REF-Union Bureau. The direct cards without the above mentioned will be answered by the Bureau. JW, SVALBARD
Operators Thomas/OZ1AA, Alex/OZ7AM and Ken/OZ1IKY will be active as JW/homecall from Spitsbergen (EU-026) between July 23­27th. QSL via their home callsigns. V4, ST. KITTS
Jon, W5JON, will once again be active as V47JA from the Calypso Bay, St. Kitts (NA-104, WW Loc. FK87SG), hillside QTH overlooking the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, between October 20th and November 10th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using an ICOM IC-7000 w/KL-400 amp (350 watts) into a ZS6BKW design "All-Band Dipole" antenna. His operations will include the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via W5JON.

VP8/O, SOUTH ORKNEY ISLANDS
The following press release was received on June 23rd: "The Microlite Penguins DXpedition team is pleased to announce the major equipment sponsors for our upcoming South Orkneys DXpedition.

The world-famous Elecraft will be providing us with a full set of K3 transceivers. Light in weight but heavy on performance, the K3 was the obvious choice for this challenging polar DXpedition. We will also be taking along a set Acom 1010 amplifiers, which will help overcome some of the low-band difficulties and help keep our signals above the noise.

The main force behind our antenna field is DX Engineering, who will be supplying VP8ORK with brand new hardware for a complete set of verticals from 40m through 10m.

Complementing the DX Engineering antenna field is SteppIR, who will also be providing two of their rugged BigIR vertical antennas. This will allow us maximum flexibility with propagation, and two stations active within the same band whenever possible.

We will also have with us the "gold-standard" in extreme location DXpedition antennas: The Battle Creek Special. This proven low-band performer will provide the backbone to the VP8ORK effort on 80 and 160, ensuring you hear us. And so we can hear YOU, we'll also have one of DX Engineering's 4-square receive antenna systems.

And for additional firepower on the low bands, we will have 60 foot and 85 foot Spiderbeam fiberglass masts supporting vertical wires tuned for 80 and 160. Again, this allows simultaneous CW and SSB operation on 80 and gives us redundancy on 160.

Additional sponsors include Primus, who has graciously donated over 3000 feet of LMR-400 coax, and RigExpert Canada, who has come through with a full set of interfaces for our K3s.

With this fantastic range of equipment and some of the most experienced operators ever assembled, VP8ORK is set to be the premier DX event of 2011.
