2020 W9DXCC DX CONVENTION NEWS (Cancelled). The following was posted on
the W9DXCC Web page (http://w9dxcc.com) [edited]: The board of directors
for the Northern Illinois DX Association voted unanimously on May 19th
to cancel this year's W9DXCC convention (scheduled for September 11-12th)
due to the coronavirus pandemic and expected limitations in Illinois
surrounding large gatherings this fall. Plans are already being made to
book the 2021 convention at the Marriott in Naperville, where the 68th
annual W9DXCC is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 11-12th.
Thank you for your continued support of W9DXCC and we look forward to
gathering in person again in 2021. There have been tentative discussions
about a possible virtual convention this year. Updates will be shared via
email and the website if there are developments.

AT0, INDIA (Special Event). Dinesh "Pandir", VU2DCT, will use the special
callsign AT0II (II=Improve Immunity) from Lucknow, India, to spread the
awareness of the Covid-19 pandemic situation. Activity will be through
August 18th. QSL via his home callsign.

AT2, INDIA (Special Event). Utsav, VU3ZIG, will use the special callsign

Ministry of Telecommunications Government of India, to show the gratitude
and tribute for the COVID-19 warriors during this pandemic situation.
Activity will be through August 18th. QSL via his home callsign.

CQ COMMUNICATIONS, INC. NEWS (Press Release by Rich, W2VU, dated May 20th).
[edited] Announcing: 2020 Inductees, CQ DX Hall of Fame -- Tony Gonzalez,
EA5RM, and Ned Stearns, AA7A, Inducted to CQ DX Hall of Fame - CQ magazine
today announced the induction of the two newest members of the CQ DX Hall
of Fame, which honors those DXers who not only excel in personal performance
but who also "give back" to the hobby in outstanding ways. CQ DX Editor
Bob Schenck, N2OO, made a virtual presentation on the Ham Nation podcast
on May 20th.

The 2020 inductees to the CQ DX Hall of Fame are:
  * Tony Gonzalez, EA5RM - has been an active DXpeditioner for 20 years,
often organizing and leading teams to operate from difficult and chal-
lenging locations. Tony and his teams have also helped establish or
re-establish amateur radio activities in several countries, including
Rwanda (where it had been banned for a decade due to civil war) and
the newly-independent country of South Sudan. In addition, Tony has
made 10 trips to Bolivia to establish and maintain HF communication
links between medical facilities and remote villages in the Amazon
rain forest, and has operated as CP1XRM during his free time. Tony's
work in South America earned him the ARRL International Humanitarian
    Award in 2015.

  * Edward "Ned" Stearns, AA7A - is an accomplished DXer, DXpeditioner
(he's been on 32 of them and led 8) and technical innovator. He in-
troduced the use of switchable vertical dipole array antennas on island
DXpeditions and designed "dual-band discone" antennas for use with
the Northern California DX Foundation's worldwide beacon network. Ned
also worked with 2019 DX Hall of Fame inductee Joe Taylor, K1JT, on
developing the "Fox/Hound" mode for FT8 used by DXpeditions. Ned also
maintains two remote stations in Arizona, has made presentations at
many technical conferences and has served in a variety of leadership
roles in the hobby. On the air, he is at the Top of the Honor Roll
for DXCC Phone and Mixed, was the first recipient of 11-band DXCC
and has worked over 160 countries via EME (Earth-Moon-Earth).

This year's induction ceremony was scheduled to be conducted online on
Wednesday, May 20th, on the Ham Nation podcast:
                         https://twit.tv/shows/ham-nation
The CQ DX Hall of Fame was established in 1967 to recognize those amateurs
who have made major contributions to DXing and DXpeditioning. This is the
54th annual induction, and the first to be conducted online.

EDITOR'S NOTE: To watch the actual "CQ DX Hall of Fame" announcement
on the HAM NATION (episode 454; 40 mins. in), go to:

E2, THAILAND (Attention AMSAT Members -- E2STAYHOME operating schedule).
Tanan, HS1JAN, posted the following info on May 24th: Thailand's regulator,
the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), has
issued the special callsign, E2STAYHOME, to the Radio Amateur Society
of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King (RAST)
for use during the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. This is because it
is very important for people to boost their immune systems to fight off
germs that can enter their bodies and to reduce the chance of getting
infected by the COVID-19 virus. Now, it is very important to stay home
and to keep a distance of at least one metre from others, if this is
possible, which is one way to help prevent the spread of the disease on
a global basis.
This is a rare opportunity for ham radio operators who are interested
in satellite communications to legally communicate with Thai amateur radio
stations by means of the Es'hail-2 or QO-100 geostationary satellite which
licensed by the Thai regulator, the NBTC, in response to requests from
RAST, and using the special callsign E2STAYHOME on the evenings of each
working day in Thailand and on every weekend.
The operating schedule is as follows:
  Monday to Friday, 1100 - 1500 UTC
  Saturday and Sunday, 0800 - 1500 UTC
All days after 1600 UTC and up to 2200 UTC Thailand has an emergency
curfew in place. please STAY HOME!!
During these times, Thai hams will be operating using this callsign on
all bands and in all modes, including all satellite modes under the super-
vision of the Radio Amateur Society of Thailand (RAST) in an effort to help
prevent the spread of COVID-19 and they will be QRV from today until July
15, 2020. QSOs with E2STAYHOME can be confirmed via Tim W. Tadsri, HS6MYW,
and QSL cards will be sent to all via the Bureau.

EH8, CANARY ISLANDS (Special Event). Members of the Radio Club Laurilsiva
(EA8RKL) from Gran Canaria (AF-004) will be active as EH8DDC between May
24-31st. Activity is to celebrate the feast day of the Autonomous Community
of Canaria. Operations will be on all possible bands and modes. Participants
who manage to make four contacts without repeating bands and modes on the
same day will receive a digital Diploma. The lists (log) must be sent
before June 15th, and E-mail to: listasea8rkl@gmail.com (stating their
callsign, name and surname). QSL via ClubLog or eQSL.

F6, FRANCE. Maurice, F5NQL, will activate the Provins ARC callsign, F6KOP,
during the next CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 30-31st) as a Single-Op/Single-
Band (20m)/Assisted/High-Power entry. WW. Loc. JN18pn. QSL via LoTW, by
the Bureau, or direct to Christian/F5GSJ (see QRZ.com). If you use the
Bureau, please only via REF Bureau (the French IARU Society and the only
one).

FP, ST. PIERRE & MIQUELON (Rescheduled). Eric, KV1J, will once again be
operating from the Island of Miquelon (NA-032, DIFO FP-002 WLOTA 1417,
Grid GN17) as FP/KV1J between September 22nd and October 6th. This oper-
ation was originally scheduled for July, but was postponed due to travel
restrictions. It will be Eric's 14th trip to the island. Activity will be
on 160-10 meters, including 60m , using CW, SSB, RTTY, FT8/FT4 (but pri-
marily SSB, RTTY and FT8/FT4) and the SSB/FM satellites. He will generally
be on the highest frequency band that is open (favoring 60/12/10/6m).
He will be active in the CQWW DX RTTY Contest (September 26-27th). ADDED
NOTE: Eric will usually try to be on as many Satellite passes as he can
when the WX is good, generally favoring theXW-2x, AO-7, RS-44, CA-4x,
and possibly the FM birds. Weekends may be limited since he will be con-
centrating on the low(er) bands and contests. QSL via KV1J, direct or by
the Bureau. Also eQSL and LoTW. For more details and updates, check out
his Web page at: http://www.kv1j.com/fp/July20.html

IOTA QSO MATCHING VIA LOTW! Roger, G3KMA, announced the following on
the IOTA Web page, May 19th [edited]: Islands On The Air (IOTA) Ltd is
delighted to announce the implementation of the ARRL application which
allows the use of QSO matching via LoTW. We wish to thank ARRL for having
made their application available. This will allow IOTA chasers to obtain
credits by matching their logs with those at LoTW in addition to those
at Club Log. We have a lot of work ahead of us to identify the time
windows of past IOTA operations and this will be phased in over the
next few months. An initial list of operations arising from the link-up
with LoTW has been added to the database and these will become available
for QSO matching from Thursday, May 21st. Further additions will be made
on an ongoing basis. We are sure that the IOTA community will welcome
this development for which they have long been pressing. Instructions
for LoTW QSO matching are found here, and notes on Accepted Activations
  here (https://www.iota-world.org/info/accepted_activations-en.pdf).

NA-039. (Rescheduled) Members of the Russian Robinson Club will be
active as KL7RRC/P from Adak Island, Alaska, between September
11-18th (originally scheduled for June). Operators mentioned
           are Yuri/N3QQ, Robert/N7QT, Slav/OK8AU and Yuri/UA9OBA. Activity
will be on various HF bands using CW, SSB and FT8 (F/H), with
three stations on the air. QSL via N7RO.

NA-070. (Rescheduled) Members of the Russian Robinson Club will be
active as KL7RRC/P from Kiska Island, Alaska, between September
5-10th (originally scheduled for June). Operators mentioned
           are Yuri/N3QQ, Robert/N7QT, Slav/OK8AU and Yuri/UA9OBA. Activity
will be on various HF bands using CW, SSB and FT8 (F/H), with
three stations on the air. QSL via N7RO.

NA-085. Bruce, K5TEN, who usually activates Dog Island (WW. Loc EL79)
every year in June as K4D, has postponed his operation until
September 9-18th. Dog Island, Florida, is an extremely rare
IOTA because access is controlled by the 25 or so homeowners
on the island. There are no hams on the island, and the only
activations have been done by Bruce over the last 6 years.
Access is by permission only and permission by one of the
homeowners. It is only accessible by private charter or single
engine fixed wing aircraft. The airstrip is overgrown so private
charter is the only real choice. There are no streets, roads,
stop signs, trendy cafes, or beach-front bars. If you need it,
you bring it. This year's activity will only be on 40 and 20
meters primarily on SSB and FT8 Digital mode using 100 watts
an ICOM 7100 into an off center fed dipole. QSL via K5TEN,
SASE REQUIRED for stateside and DX (DX 2 USDs REQUIRED). Also,
QSL via LoTW, eQSL and ClubLog.

NA-158. Bryden, KC1KUG, will be active as KL7/KC1KUG from Fire Island,
Alaska, in the Cook Inlet Group, between June 2-27th. Activity
will be mostly on 40/20 meters, possibly 80/30/17m, using mostly
SSB, some CW or FT8. QSL via KC1KUG.

PLEASE NOTE: Since the Webmasters of the new have
decided NOT to post or dedicate a Web page to announce upcoming IOTA
operations, PLEASE send your IOTA operations information to the OPDX,
and we will post it here in an upcoming bulletin......

KP4, PUERTO RICO (NA-099). Operators Carlos/KP4EJ and Alfredo/WP3C will be
active as KP4EJ during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 30-31st) as a Multi-
Single entry. QSL via KP4EJ.

LY88, LITHUANIA. Rolandas, LY5AA, will be active as LY88A from Kaunas
during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 30-31st) as a Single-Op/Single-Band
(160m)/High-Power entry. QSL via LY5AA direct to: Rolandas Zakelis,
Naujakuriu g.82-19, LT47131 Kaunas, LITHUANIA.

  [edited]:
VP8PJ QSL Card Status -- QSL Manager Tim, M0URX, reports that all VP8PJ
OQRS requests and direct mailed QSL cards received by Wednesday, May 20th,
were posted from the UK on Thursday, May 21st. Depending on your country's
Covid-19 situation, please allow 10 - 14 days for the cards to arrive, in
some cases possibly longer. Bureau cards will be shipped directly to the
worldwide bureau early next year. Thanks to Tim for managing the QSL
process and to Max, ON5UR, for a quality product. Photos of the shipment
are posted on Tim's blog at: M0URX.com
Equipment Status -- The Covid-19 lock down in Chile delayed the return
of our equipment. On Tuesday, May 19th, we received consignment documen-
tation indicating the equipment was containerized and taken to San Antonio
(Valparaiso), Chile, for sea shipment. The ship is scheduled to leave
San Antonio on June 6th, for the journey to Oakland, California. Several
VP8PJ team members will meet in the San Francisco Bay Area to unpack,
inventory and return borrowed equipment. Expected transit time is approx-
imately 40 days. We appreciate the excellent service and support from
  Agunsa Logistics, Chile.
