EU-123. (New) It was reported on "DX-World.net" that members of the
MS0INT Team received granted permission on September 22nd to
land on the Bass Rock and to undertake an IOTA DXpedition
there. Specific dates and full details are to be announced,
but it was mentioned that it would be likely early next year
(February, March or April) before any activity would happen.
The Bass Rock has only ever been activated three times (1997,
2001, 2008) according to research. The team is indebted to
Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Sir Hew Dalrymple for allowing them
to land on his island. UPDATE (September 26th): "DX-World.net"
reports that the team consists of Declan/EI6FR, Col/MM0NDX,

On Sunday, October 10th, 2010, Curaçao and St. Maarten became constituent
countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Officials in Willemstad on
Curaçao lowered the Antillean flag at midnight (Sunday at 6 a.m. 10-10-2010
in the Netherlands). Curaçao is in the Southern Caribbean Sea. Following
a referendum, and as a result of constitutional change, Curaçao became a
constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on October 10th,
2010. The constitutional changes marked a new start for the islands, one
that put the well being of the islands' people first. After 10 Years, the
Curaçao Amateur Radio Group (https://carghamradio.wixsite.com/mysite), will
remember this First Decade of the New Country Curaçao with a special DX
event and the special event stations will be using the PJ2C callsign. The
band and mode they intend to use is 20 meters SSB, and if there is no
condition, they will try FT8 on 17 and 20 meters, but this is the last
option. For more details, see: https://carghamradio.wixsite.com/mysite/events

SILENT KEYS......................
  * Frank, F4AJQ, President of F6KOP, informs OPDX that Maurice, F5NQL,
became a Silent Key on the evening of September 22nd, at 6 p.m., in
Paris at the hospital where he was treated for lung cancer. He was
76 years old. Maurice was a major CW operator on many French DXpeditions
as well as a conduit for French DXpedition information. His input at
    OPDX will be surely missed.

  * It has been reported that Pete Rimmel, N8PR, became a Silent Key on
Monday, September 21st, after a long illness. Pete was a well-known
DXer/Contester, a man of many talents and hats connected to many
associations. He will be missed by many. EDITOR'S NOTE: Your editor
got to meet Pete when he attended a few of the Northern Ohio DX
Association's (NODXA) ARRL Field Day site in the past. He was a very
interesting gentleman and the NODXA members will miss him.

** OPDX and its readers would like to send out our deepest sympathy to
the family and friends for the above Silent Keys.
