Xiegu G90 with 20 watts into a EFRW (End Feed Random Wire) antenna (53
ft. wire with a 9:1 unun; deployed in a tree). Jeff states he will use
SSB on "20m and 40m, but will run all bands up to 10m just to experiment
with propagation." QSL via LoTW and ClubLog (once he return home). He
also states, "This will be my first DXpedition of any kind and honestly,
I have no idea what to expect. I have very little room for gear thus the
limited scope of what I am taking with me. If you are able to hear me,
please be patient as this will be a 'first time' experience for me. If
a pileup occurs, I will attempt to work SPLIT and will try and be clear
about that when transmitting."

CQ NEWS (Press Release, dated October 6th). Rich Moseson, W2VU, CQ Editor,
sent out the following: "Mark Wohlschlegel, WC3W, Named CQ DX Marathon
Director Succeeds John Sweeney, K9EL" -- Mark Wohlschlegel, WC3W, has
been appointed as Director of the CQ DX Marathon, CQ Editor Rich Moseson,
W2VU, announced today. Mark succeeds John Sweeney, K9EL, who has held the
post since the program was reinstituted in 2006.
An electrical engineer, Mark has been a ham radio operator since age
12. He currently lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with his wife of
49 years. Both his wife and two adult children are licensed hams. Due
to antenna restrictions in his home community, Mark and a ham friend
have built a remote station about 80 miles from his home QTH (photos on
QRZ.com). Mark and his wife spend about five months of each year in
Grand Lake, Colorado, where he has a small HF station and a UHF repeater.
Mark's operating preferences are CW, FT8, and SSB, in that order. He
routinely chases DX on all bands. Besides amateur radio, Mark flies single
engine airplanes, enjoys motorcycle riding and sailing, and is a musician
in his church.
Wohlschlegel says his goals for the DX Marathon program include working
to double participation over the next 3-5 years by increasing the number
of categories and encouraging greater participation by DX clubs around
the world.
"I want to thank John Sweeney for getting the DX Marathon up and running
in 2006 and guiding it successfully through the past 16 years," said
Moseson. "Building an activity like this from the ground up is a huge
challenge. I also look forward to working with Mark in the future. I am
very impressed with his dedication to the DX Marathon program and his
vision for its future."
Wohlschlegel will take over as DX Marathon director with the 2023 running
of the year-long activity.

Portugal, during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Multi-?
entry. QSL via CS5ARC.

CY0S SABLE ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS. The following was posted on the CY0S
Sable Island DXpedition Web page (https://t-rexsoftware.com/cy0s/news.htm),
October 5th: A lot of DXers have inquired about Sable Island after Hurri-
cane Fiona made an almost direct hit on the island. Hurricane Fiona had
the lowest barometric pressure (931 MB) ever recorded in Canada during
any previous hurricane. Fortunately, the news is better than expected on
Sable Island. Parks Canada personnel on the island report some of the
buildings lost sections of siding and some roof damage. The Parks Canada
personnel described the damage as superficial. The NavCan METAR (Meteoro-
logical Terminal Air Report) system was inoperative for 5-6 days until
technicians could travel to the island to restore the system. The hurri-
cane caused some erosion and reshaped part of the island. A researcher
who has been on the island for almost 50 years reported it was the worst
storm she has ever experienced on the island.

D4, CAPE VERDE. Members of the Monteverde Contest Team Club will be active
as D4Z from Cape Verde during the both CQWW DX SSB (October 29-30th) and
CQWW DX CW (November 26-27th) Contests as a Multi-? entries. QSL via
IK2NCJ.

FS, ST. MARTIN. Philip, K0CD, will be active as FS/K0CD from St. Martin
Island (NA-105) during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th), as a
Single-Op/QRP-Power/Single-Band (40 or 20m) entry. Look for him to pos-
sibly be on the air the Thursday or Friday before the contest. QSL via
K0CD.

PJ4, BONAIRE (Contest Station Available). Jeff, KU8E, reports: The PJ4G
radio house in Bonaire is available for some contests this Fall/Spring
contest season. It can be rented either in-person or can be operated
remotely via (BeLoud.Us). The only operations I'm aware of in the near
future are PJ4G in CQWW DX SSB and PJ4A in CQWW DX CW. Noah, K2NG usually
does some type of multi-op operation in the ARRL DX Contests and is always
looking for operators. I'm listening on 10 meters today and it's wide open
to EU. The ARRL Ten Meter contest could be really fun from down there this
year. See https://pj4g.com for more information. Note that a COVID-19
vaccine or test is no longer required to travel to Bonaire. If you have
any questions you can also email me directly.

PJ4, BONAIRE. Look for a team of operators (not named) to be active as
PJ4G during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Multi-Single
entry. QSL via K4BAI or LoTW.
