DXCC NEWS (DXCC 'Applications Received' Web Link)
Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL DXCC Manager, states, "Ever wonder when DXCC received your application? Well, there is a feature on the DXCC Web site that allows you to verify that it has been received, and when! To determine this, visit the DXCC Web site at:

http://www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc
Near mid-page there is a link titled "List of DXCC Applications Received"

After clicking this link the callsigns and date logged into the DXCC computer will appear here. Callsigns are listed alpha-numerically. (note, this is not the date received from the post office, it is the date your application was logged into the DXCC system. This date could be several days after receipt from the post office).

At the top of the page is a date. This date is always the Friday of the current estimated period DXCC is mailing applications. (Note: It may or may not be the exact date). Due to the sheer volume of applications that pass through DXCC, applications before and even after this period may be in progress.

Can the approximate turnaround time be determined by this? While not exact, yes, the turnaround time can be estimated:
Using the current date look at the mailing date. The difference between these two dates is the approximate turnaround time. (eg: If today's date is September 10, 2007 and the date shown on the web page is June 22, 2007, the estimated turnaround time can be determined to be approximately 2.5 months. Again, this is only an estimate.)"

VP6D, DUCIE ISLAND
According to a press release by Carsten, DL6LAU, Team leader, the VP6DX team is still very busy preparing the equipment for a shipment in November. There have been some changes since the last report. He states, "Unfortunately Jan, DJ8NK, and Martti, OH2BH, had to withdraw but we were fortunate to complete the team with some very skilled operators. These are Ben - DL6FBL, Tonno ES5TV, Harry RA3AUU and Cliff SV1JG.

So here is the list of people who will head out to Ducie in February 2008 and give you this rare one: DL3DXX, DL6FBL, DL6LAU, DL8LAS, ES5TV, K3NA, N5IA, RA3AUU, SP3DOI, SP5XVY, SV1JG, UA3AB and WA6CDR." Carsten also states that they are "eagerly waiting to give the Elecraft K3s the real test on Ducie. ACOM amps are already packed, microHAM micro Keyer II for all stations should arrive soon and will be used between the radios and the PCs. The new YT6A high-power band pass filters after each amplifier should help to reduce interference between stations even more."

On donations, Carsten states, "Donations prior to our departure are very important for us because basically all of the expenses (Braveheart charter and container shipment) have to be paid way before we actually depart, and the team members already paid what I would call a more than adequate share. Each of them put in 6,200 USDs,- and will pay the own transportation by air to Mangareva (FO). We are deeply grateful to the NCDXF, who contributed 20,000 USDs, - towards the costs. Without NCDXF it would be hardly possible to run a expedition like VP6DX. Please consider joining NCDXF and become a contributor to NCDXF in its 35th year as a premier sponsor of expeditions and the Beacon system. A big thank you also goes to the individuals who already sent in a donation. Even with the generous donations received so far and the contribution of the team members, we are still lacking about 50,000 USDs, - as of September 21st. We again would kindly ask you to check if you could help too. Details on how you can help can be found in the ‘How To Help’ section."

Visit the VP6DX Web page at: http://www.vp6dx.com
Carsten states, "We are putting more content to these pages in regular intervals. If you are interested to receive a newsletter from us automatically, just visit the News section and leave your e-mail there. During the next weeks we will be busy to build the remaining antennas and prepare the container shipment with radios, amplifiers, antennas, generators and the like..... 73sss in behalf of the VP6DX team Carsten, DL6LAU Teamleader"
